Faik Türün was a Turkish army major general and politician born in Bursa around 1913 or 1914. He participated in the Korean War as a member of the Turkish Brigade from 1950 to 1953, earning the Silver Star from the US military for his distinguished service. He commanded the 3rd and 1st Corps of the Turkish Land Forces. Türün was notably involved in suppressing socialist movements in the 1970s and played a key role in foiling a military coup attempt on March 9, 1971. After retirement in 1977, he was elected as a parliamentary member from the Justice Party.
