Farman Fatehpuri was a Pakistani linguist, scholar, writer, and critic born as Syed Dildar Ali on January 26, 1926. He is widely regarded as a leading authority on the life and work of Mirza Ghalib. Fatehpuri authored numerous scholarly articles, book reviews, and editorials, making significant contributions to Urdu literature. In recognition of his literary achievements, he was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in 1985. He passed away in his sleep on August 3, 2013, and was laid to rest in the Karachi University cemetery.
