Farzad Bazoft was an Iranian-born journalist who settled in the United Kingdom during the 1970s. He worked as an independent journalist for The Observer. In 1990, he was arrested by Iraqi authorities and executed on charges of espionage for Israel while he was working in Iraq. Bazoft's case drew international attention, raising issues of press freedom and human rights in Iraq.
