Fathy Ghanem was an Egyptian writer born on March 24, 1924, in Cairo to a humble family. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Fouad I University (now Cairo University) in 1944. Ghanem worked in journalism, initially at Rose Al-Youssef and later became the chairman of the board and editor-in-chief at Al-Gomhoria. He returned to Rose Al-Youssef until his death on February 24, 1999, at the age of 75.
