Fatima Achimo (1931–2011) was a pioneering Malagasy politician and educator. Born in Ambanja to a royal family, she earned her teaching diploma in 1963 and engaged in international education conventions. Achimo made history as the first woman senator in Madagascar in 1966. She served as secretary of state under President Philbert Tsiranana from 1971. Her contributions included a focus on child protection and women's rights, as well as establishing boarding facilities for girls. She passed away in Antananarivo, and a street was named in her honor in 2011.
