Maria de Fátima Bezerra (born May 19, 1955) is a Brazilian politician currently serving as the Governor of Rio Grande do Norte since January 2019. She was previously a Deputy in the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil from 2003 to 2015 and a Senator in the Federal Senate of Brazil for Rio Grande do Sul from 2015 to 2019. Bezerra is a member of the Brazilian Workers' Party and is publicly open about her sexual orientation, making her the first openly lesbian woman to hold the position of governor in a Brazilian state.
