Fausto Fernández Díaz is a Spanish secondary education teacher and politician, born on June 12, 1956, in Alía, Cáceres. He was elected mayor of Rivas-Vaciamadrid in 1995 and served as a deputy in the Assembly of Madrid. A member of the Spanish Communist Party since 1975 and later of United Left, he coordinated IU in the Community of Madrid from 2002 to 2005. After stepping down from his council position in September 2014, he returned to teaching.
