Fermín Cacho Ruíz, born on February 16, 1969, in Agreda, Soria, is a retired Spanish middle-distance runner. He specialized in the 1500 meters, achieving significant success in his career. Cacho won the gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and silver at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was also a two-time world championship silver medalist in 1993 and 1997, European champion in 1994, and won bronze at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest. Cacho was a seven-time Spanish champion and held the European and Spanish record for 1500 meters, which was broken by Mo Farah and Mohamed Katir in 2017 and 2021 respectively.
