Fern H. Shubert is a former Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly who represented the 35th Senate district. An accountant by profession, she served in the State House from 1994-1998 and 2000-2002, and in the Senate from 2002-2004, where she was the Republican whip. She ran for various political positions, including the gubernatorial nomination in 2004 and State Auditor in 2012. Notably, she campaigned against a proposed half-cent prepared food tax and involved herself in local political discourse.
