Fernando Manuel de Almeida Alexandre is a Portuguese professor and politician, born in 1972. He is the current Minister of Education, Science and Innovation since 2024, serving in the XXIV Constitutional Government led by Luís Montenegro. Previously, he was the Secretary of State of Internal Administration during the XIX Constitutional Government under Pedro Passos Coelho. An Associate Professor at the University of Minho since 2009, he earned his degrees in Economics from the University of Coimbra and completed his PhD on monetary policy at Birkbeck College, University of London in 2003.
