Fernando Augusto Valente da Fonseca, also known as Fernando Sandália, was a banker and member of the Brazilian Revolutionary Communist Party (PCBR) during the Brazilian military dictatorship. He was born on January 13, 1946, in Rio de Janeiro and died under controversial circumstances on December 29, 1972, in Rio de Janeiro or December 26, 1972, in Recife. His death occurred during an operation led by DOI-CODI, the Internal Defense Operations Center. His case has been investigated by the National Truth Commission.
