Fernando Buesa Blanco (1946-2000) was a Basque politician active in the Basque Christian Democracy and later in the Socialist Party of the Basque Country. He served as a city councilor in Vitoria and as a member of the Basque Parliament. Notably, he was the Vice-Lehendakari and Minister of Education, overseeing the integration of ikastolak into the Basque education system. Buesa was murdered by ETA in February 2000 while walking on the university campus in Vitoria, an act that led to significant political repercussions.
