Fernando García Sendra was a Catholic blessed born on March 3, 1905, in Pego, Alicante. He served as an altar boy and entered the Franciscan College. After three years, he returned home due to illness, then continued his studies at the San Jose College in Valencia. Ordained a priest in 1931, he was arrested during the Spanish Civil War and shot shortly after on September 18, 1936, at the age of 31. He was beatified along with others by Pope John Paul II on March 11, 2001.
