Finis Conner is an American entrepreneur and pioneer in the hard disk industry. Born on July 28, 1943, in Gadsden, Alabama, he grew up in modest circumstances. After working for IBM, he co-founded Shugart Associates and later Seagate Technology, where he developed the 5.25-inch hard disk format. Conner established Conner Peripherals, focusing on 3.5 and 2.5-inch drives, which became rapidly successful. They were acquired by Seagate in 1996. In 2010, he became CEO of Millenniata, specializing in optical archiving technology.
