Fortunato de la Peña is a Filipino engineer and professor born on November 12, 1949. He was the Secretary of Science and Technology under President Rodrigo Duterte from 2016 to 2022. Prior to this role, he served as Undersecretary for Scientific and Technological Services from 2001 to 2014, returning to DOST in 2016 after a brief retirement. De la Peña has held leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as president of the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology and as chairman of a UN commission on science and technology.
