François Bigo was a French Catholic priest and military chaplain of the Free French Forces during World War II. He was born on April 5, 1912, in Lille and was killed on October 2, 1944, near Ronchamp. Bigo distinguished himself by his commitment to assist wounded soldiers regardless of their religion or nationality. He fell victim to a war crime while fulfilling his duties as a chaplain, being shot in the back while helping a dying man. He was one of twelve companions of the Liberation in the 22nd North African marching battalion.
