Godbout had notable achievements, including winning the Quebec Indoor championship in 1960 and defeating Arthur Ashe at the 1961 U.S. National Championships. He held leadership roles in tennis administration, serving as President of the Quebec Tennis Federation and Tennis Canada, and was inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
