François Nkotti, known as Desto, was a Cameroonian artist, singer, and songwriter born on February 15, 1951, in Bonassama-Souza and passed away on August 4, 2021, in Douala. He served as the mayor of Bonaléa from 2002 to 2013. Nkotti was a prominent figure in the Makossa music scene, founded the musical group Les BlackStyls, and initiated the FOMARIC festival, an important cultural event in Douala. He also published an autobiography titled 'On m’appelle Desto' before his death.
