François Seité was a French officer of the Free French Forces during World War II, born on February 12, 1923, in Locquirec, Finistère. He enlisted at the young age of 17 and notably distinguished himself in the Italian campaign, the Provence landings, and subsequent liberation battles. He was killed on November 17, 1944, in Belfort during the battle for Alsace and was posthumously awarded the title of Companion of the Liberation for his bravery.
