François Verster is an independent South African film director and documentary maker born in 1969. He has a rich background in writing, music, academia, and film, having completed an MA degree under Nobel laureate JM Coetzee. His debut documentary, Pavement Aristocrats: The Bergies of Cape Town, gained acclaim. Verster takes an observational approach to social issues, winning awards internationally. He has taught documentary directing, created Undercurrent Film & Television in 1998, and directed the award-winning A Lion's Trail in 2006, showcasing his commitment to quality documentary narratives.
