He proposed the Fraser Darling effect regarding breeding season synchronization in birds. A pacifist during WWII, he advocated for agricultural production on abandoned land. He made significant contributions to ecological studies and public discourse on environmental responsibility, including the prestigious Reith Lectures by the BBC.
