Frank Hovington was an American blues singer, guitarist, and player of banjo and ukulele, born on January 9, 1919, in Reading, Pennsylvania. He began playing music in childhood and performed at house parties with William Walker in Delaware during the late 1930s and 1940s. Later relocating to Washington, D.C., he accompanied gospel groups and worked with Billy Stewart's band. Discovered in 1975 by Bruce Bastin, he released a celebrated LP, which remains available today. His recordings also appeared on Library of Congress compilations and multiple albums in the 'Living Country Blues' series.
