Frank Sels was a Belgian comic book artist and author, born on December 3, 1942, in Antwerp and known for the Silberpfeil comics in the German-speaking world. After studying art, he joined Willy Vandersteen's studio in 1963, contributing to various comics including Karl May. In 1969, he collaborated directly with Bastei-Verlag, creating the comic series Zilverpijl. He established his own studio to meet Bastei's demands. Tragically, Sels took his own life shortly after turning 44 on December 19, 1986.
