Frank Stack, born on October 31, 1937, in Houston, is an American underground comic artist. He worked under the pseudonym Foolbert Sturgeon to avoid persecution for his comic stories. Stack is recognized for creating what many consider the first underground comic, 'The Adventures of Jesus,' in 1962. He is also an art professor at the University of Missouri and has taught at Appalachian State and Virginia Tech. In addition to his teaching, Stack has contributed articles to The Comics Journal and created comics such as Zero Zero, Blab!, Snarf, and Rip Off Comix.
