Franz Josef Schweitzer was a German civil engineer and recycling entrepreneur born on June 26, 1934, in Stolberg, Rheinland. He initially worked on various projects, including a dam in Malaysia. In 1968, he founded the recycling company Alba, named after a previous enterprise associated with his wife. After his death on March 19, 1998, his sons, Axel and Eric Schweitzer, continued to lead the company. A square in Velten, Brandenburg, is named in his honor, and a street in Berlin honors his late son Frank Schweitzer.
