Frederic Prieto i Caballé was a Catalan priest, theologian, politician, and activist born in Barcelona on January 16, 1940. He served as the mayor of Cornellà de Llobregat from 1979 to 1985, being the first to hold this office democratically following Franco's dictatorship. He played a significant role in the organization of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the acceptance of the Paralympics. His early activism against Franco's censorship led him through various political ideologies culminating in Catalan socialism and independence. He was recognized for his local involvement in community issues until his passing.
