On 23 August 1945, Davies attempted to rescue two girls trapped in a burning building in Harlesden. Despite facing extreme danger and severe flames, he entered the room where the children were located and successfully brought one to safety, but tragically lost his life due to severe burns sustained during the rescue. His gallantry and dedication to duty are commemorated through his notable award.
