Frederick James Kroesen was a United States Army General, born on February 11, 1923, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, and he passed away on April 30, 2020, in Alexandria, Virginia. He served as the commanding general of the 7th U.S. Army in Heidelberg from 1979 to 1983 and also commanded the Central Army Group of NATO. His previous roles included commanding the VII Corps and the U.S. Army Forces Command, and he served as Vice Chief of Staff of the Army until 1979. After retiring from the Army, he became a businessman.
