After moving to Tromsø and working for the roads authority, Aagesen published several short stories in magazines and newspapers. His debut book, 'Timen før daggry' (The Hour Before Dawn), released in 1985, received praise for its storytelling. He passed away on October 26, 1998, and is buried in Elvestrand Cemetery, Tromsø.
