Abdallah Said Fundikira III was the Ntemi (chief) of Unyanyembe from 1957 until his deposition in 2007 by the Tanzanian government. He had a distinguished education, including a degree in Agriculture from Makerere University. Fundikira served as a minister in Tanzania's first government, was a key figure in the transition to multiparty politics, and formed the Union for Multiparty Democracy before joining Chama Cha Mapinduzi. He remained active in politics until his death in 2007, whereupon he was buried following Nyamwezi traditions.
