Furkan Akar, born on March 6, 2002, is a Turkish Olympian short track speed skater who made history as Turkey's first representative in this sport at the Olympic Games. He achieved a remarkable feat by finishing 6th in the 1000-meter event at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, becoming the first and only Turkish athlete to place in the 'Top 10' at the Winter Olympics. In 2023, he won a bronze medal in the 1000 meters race at the European Championship, marking another historic achievement for Turkey.
