Fursan Khalifa (Mahmoud Abdullah Khalifa, Abu Abbas) was a senior Palestinian military commander in Hamas and the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Born on April 8, 1983, in Tulkarm, he became known as one of the most prominent leaders of Hamas and the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Khalifa was imprisoned by Israel from 2003 until his release in 2011 as part of the Shalit deal, after which he was deported to Gaza. He was assassinated by Israel during the Al-Aqsa Flood battle in Gaza on November 25, 2023.
