Fyodor Dmitriyevich Tkachev was a Soviet scientist in aviation and space, an engineer renowned for his work in parachute systems. Born on February 27, 1911, in Vysheley, he worked in the industry from 1933, holding significant roles including chief engineer of the parachute industry in the USSR. He was director of the Research Institute of Parachute and Airborne Service from 1955 to 1968. Tkachev contributed to the Soviet space program, particularly in developing the parachute system for the Vostok-1 spacecraft. He passed away in 1994 in Moscow.
