Fyodor Alekseyevich Vidyayev was a Soviet Navy submarine commander during World War II, born in 1912 in Samara Oblast. An ethnic Mordvin, he excelled in his naval studies, graduating from M.V. Frunze Higher Naval School in 1937. His career included rescue missions and participation in the Soviet Finnish War, and he commanded submarines Shch-421 and Shch-422. Vidyayev was killed in action in 1943, with his legacy honored through the naming of Vidyayevo town and a submarine tender after him.
