György G. Kardos was a Hungarian writer born in Budapest in 1925. During World War II, he was imprisoned in a German labor camp but managed to escape with the help of partisans, eventually relocating to Palestine. He served in the Israeli army for seven years before returning to Hungary in 1951. Kardos wrote about his experiences in Palestine, with his debut novel, 'Avraham Bogatir hét napja', published in 1969. The story revolves around a Russian Jewish peasant who fought in World War I, was captured, and later returned to Palestine.
