Born in March 1943 in Algeria, he was trained at Fort Monmouth and famously saved over 100 lives during an aerial attack by delivering a crucial message, preventing friendly fire. For his remarkable service, he received the Dickin Medal in 1946, becoming the first non-British recipient. After the war, he lived in Fort Monmouth until his death in 1961, after which he was preserved and is now displayed at the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Museum.
