George Paul 'Bud' Peterson, born on September 1, 1952, is a prominent academic leader who served as the 11th president of the Georgia Institute of Technology from April 1, 2009, until his retirement in summer 2019. A graduate of Kansas State University and Texas A&M University, he holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. Peterson's tenure witnessed a significant increase in enrollment and the establishment of innovation hubs on campus, including Tech Square and Coda, a major collaborative facility. He is honored through a scholarship endowment fund named after him and his wife.
