He served multiple terms as the president of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), becoming its youngest president. Born on May 23, 1931, he was the son of philanthropist P. Govindasamy Pillai, who founded several businesses and was known for his charitable contributions. After taking over the family business in the 1980s, G. Ramachandran continued to be a significant figure in the Indian community until his death on March 6, 2018.
