Gadi Eisenkot (born May 19, 1960, in Tiberias) is an Israeli military leader who served as the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). He was born into a Moroccan Jewish family and grew up in Eilat. Joining the Golani Brigade in 1978, he progressed through the ranks, taking roles such as company commander and brigade commander. Appointed Chief of Staff in February 2015, Eisenkot was the first Moroccan Israeli to hold this position. He is known for developing military strategies that became part of the IDF's combat doctrine.
