Gaku Homma, born on May 12, 1950, in Akita Prefecture, is a prominent aikido teacher and a direct student of aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba. He began training at 14 in Iwama and later became an uchi deshi under Ueshiba and Saito Morihiro in the late 1960s. In 1976, he founded Nippon Kan in Denver, Colorado, which is now the largest aikido dojo in the Rocky Mountain region. He has authored notable books on martial arts, including 'Children and the Martial Arts' and 'Aikido for Life'.
