He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law and worked across various government positions. Erdem began his journalism career at Tercüman Gazetesi and continued writing for several notable newspapers. He also held advisory roles in government, notably as a consultant for the Prime Minister's office. After retirement, he took up private practice, notably involving in significant trials. He died in 1997 and was buried in Cebeci Asri Cemetery.
