Ganesh Prasad Rijal was a prominent Nepali politician born on 11 May 1920. He played a significant role in the 1951 democratic revolution in Nepal and was elected to parliament from Ilam district in 1959. After King Mahendra's coup in December 1960, he was exiled to India. During this time, he lived in Kalimpong and Naxalbari. Rijal returned to Nepal in 1975 after receiving amnesty and continued his political activities until his death on 4 April 1998 in Damak due to cardiac arrest.
