The Eighth Garchen Rinpoche, also known as Garchen Triptrul Rinpoche, is a prominent Tibetan Buddhist teacher in the Drikung Kagyu lineage. Born in April 1936 in Nangchen, Kham, he is recognized as an incarnation of Siddha Gar Chodingpa, a notable disciple of Jigten Sumgön, the founder of the Drikung Kagyu. He is also associated with the historical figure Mahasiddha Aryadeva from ancient India, and was known as Lonpo Gar, minister to Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo in the seventh century.
