Gardner 'Mike' Cowles Jr. was an influential American newspaper and magazine publisher born in 1903. He co-owned Cowles Media Company, which managed several significant publications, including the Minneapolis Star, the Minneapolis Tribune, and the Des Moines Register. Additionally, he was involved with Look magazine and held a half-interest in Harper's Magazine. His contributions to journalism and media made a lasting impact until his passing in 1985.
