Gary Alan Seear was a New Zealand rugby union player born on 19 February 1952. Initially playing as a lock, he later transitioned to number eight. Seear made his debut for Otago at 19 and captained the 1974 Junior All Blacks. He toured South Africa with the 1976 All Blacks and played in tests against France and Australia in 1977 and 1979, respectively. He also played for Fracasso San Dona in Italy. After his rugby career, he worked as a commercial property sales consultant in Christchurch before passing away on 8 February 2018.
