He graduated from Victoria College in Alexandria and worked at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1940 to 1950. In 1948, he founded the Alexandria Studies Center and was associated with Zionist movements in Egypt and Palestine. He emigrated to Paris in 1951 and became a Dominican priest.
