Geert Bekaert (1928–2016) was a Belgian architectural critic and writer renowned for his contributions to art and design literature. He emerged as one of the most prolific non-fiction writers in Dutch during the late 20th century. Bekaert was associated with the Society of Jesus in his youth, which marked the early part of his life. His insightful essays were compiled into nine volumes published between 1985 and 2012. Additionally, a selection of his works has been translated into English and published as 'Rooted in the Real' in Ghent, 2008.
