Geirmund Unsgård, born on February 14, 1948, in Tydal, Norway, is a renowned physician and professor emeritus of neurosurgery at NTNU. He is especially known for his work in ultrasound technology. Unsgård earned his medical degree from the University of Oslo in 1974 and completed his medical doctorate at the University of Trondheim in 1979. He became a neurosurgery specialist in 1987 and a professor in 1989. Unsgård served as dean of the Faculty of Medicine at NTNU from 1993 to 1998 and held multiple leadership positions in the field until 2018.
