Genady P. Cherepanov was a Soviet and American scientist renowned for his work in fracture mechanics and applied mathematics. He earned a Doctorate in Physical and Mathematical Sciences and held the title of professor. Cherepanov was recognized as an Honorary Life Member of the New York Academy of Sciences and an Honorary Fellow of the International Congress on Fracture. Additionally, he was a member of the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Besides his scientific contributions, he was also a poet and publicist under the pseudonym Gena Cher.
