W. 'Gene' E. Alday, Jr. was an American Republican politician who served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 2011 until 2016. He was first elected to represent the 25th District and later became the mayor of Walls, Mississippi. Known for his controversial views, Alday opposed increasing funding for education, making racially charged comments about welfare. His political career ended when he lost in the Republican primary to Dan Eubanks. Alday passed away on October 9, 2016, at DeSoto South Hospice in Southaven after a prolonged illness.
